It’s always a fun game atmosphere when Stockton and El Dorado Springs meet and this game was no different. Neither pitcher gave up a hit until Garrett Mays lead off the 6th with a bunt single. “Derrick Taylor (photo below, credit to Khrystin Davis) was great for us on the mound today. But Baker was excellent on the mound for Stockton today as well,” Coach Osborne said. “Derrick did everything we expected of him and more today. For his first varsity start he did a great job.”
Stockton took an early lead on a walk followed by a one out throwing error. The Tigers were able to add another unearned run in the fourth on a dropped throw that allowed a runner into scoring position. The Bulldogs came back with a vengeance in the top of the sixth starting with Garrett Mays getting on base with a bunt single. Derrick Taylor followed with a bunt single while Ace Whitesell followed that with an RBI single. Brendan Fast joined the hit parade with another RBI single while Kyle McCullick followed that up with another RBI single putting the Bulldogs up 3-2. Unfortunately, the Bulldog defense was unable to finish the game as strongly as the offense did. Stockton got their first hits in the bottom of the inning as well and were able to score some runs when another dropped throw put the Bulldogs behind by two. The Bulldogs will be back in action on Monday at home against Carthage.
