The vote is in. Five classes it is. The change will be made for next season. A few thoughts on this… it’s great for our athletes as it creates more championship opportunities. It lowers district sizes. It evens the competitive field.
If this were to have happened this year, Nevada, Pleasant Hill, and Clinton would no longer be in our district. That is the #1, #2, and heavily debated #4/5. As you can see, it evens up competition immediately.
El Dorado Springs will stay at Class 3. Teams moving up to 3A would include Strafford, Stockton, Conway, Pleasant Hope, Clever, Sherwood, Butler, Diamond, Sarcoxie, and possibly Ash Grove. This will change the districts and scheduling dramatically. El Dorado Springs schedule has dramatically improved in the quality and size of team we play since the move to 3A. This change will allow the Bulldogs to be more competitive in Class 3 as the Bulldogs will play schools more consistent with their size. It brings the baseball program back to where they have been in the past in a level where the Bulldogs can compete for a championship year in and out. It fits perfectly.
